Founded in the spring of 2018, the Asian American Democratic Club of Montgomery County is an independent organization established by grassroots activists with longtime experience in political activism in Maryland. Our mission is to engage Asian-American communities with elected officials and candidates of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County, MD.

Our goals are as follows:

  • To increase voter turnout within the Asian-American community

  • To support Asian-American candidates running for office

  • To provide a voice for Asian-American communities with elected officials

 Our Board 

President
Asma Manejwala
Asma is a longtime Democratic activist and community organizer. She is former board member of the Cecil County Young Democrats and has volunteered for numerous Democratic campaigns, including Brown/Ulman campaign for Governor in 2014. She has worked on environmental issues for over a decade. She lives in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Anthony Kadir
 
Anthony is an entrepreneur in the Indonesian-American community, and the CEO of KITA International. His political background includes democracy training and civil reform in emerging democracies in Southeast Asia. He is a longtime board member and activist with the Indonesian American Association (IAA). He grew up in Rockville, and lives in Silver Spring.

Justin Wu
Justin is a recent graduate of Penn State who has worked on numerous Democratic campaigns, including the Beth Daly county council campaign and the Hillary for America campaign, where he helped to raise in excess of a million dollars from first time Asian-Amercan donors and other immigrants communities. He grew up in North Potomac & graduated from Wootton High School.
Communications Director
Barnaby Yeh
Barnaby is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and a longtime volunteer activist and advocate for local and national progressive causes, having gotten his start at age 17 with the Kucinich presidential campaign. He is also a vocal advocate from within the local Taiwanese-American community, engaging members with elected officials across all levels of government.
