ROCKVILLE, Maryland: The Asian American Democratic Club of Montgomery County is proud to endorse Brandy Brooks and Danielle Meitiv for County Council At Large. As two women from diverse backgrounds, Brooks and Meitiv will bring their unique perspectives to the County Council, during a time when women’s voices are increasingly marginalized at all levels of government.
A firm believer in people-powered democracy, Brandy Brooks has a long history of exemplary service as a community organizer and trainer through her work in exemplary nonprofits, in particular with Progressive Maryland. Danielle Meitiv, as a climate scientist, has been fighting for our children and our futures by advancing sustainable environmental policies, and has successfully used her spotlight as the “Free Range Mom” to advocate for humane policing and other reforms that benefit families living in our County.
Furthermore, Brooks and Meitiv have demonstrated strong liberal and progressive values that serve needs of working families, such as a $15 minimum wage, strong public schooling, free college tuition, and reliable public transportation. Meitiv comes from a union family & Brooks has indefatigably fought for organized labor as an employee of Progressive Maryland.
Brooks and Meitiv hold spectacular relations and engagement with the Asian-American community of Montgomery County, joining us at our cultural events and having an ear open to the issues of concern to us.
In contrast to the views and actions of certain prominent county officials, we believe that women’s voices are what we need on the County Council. For being those voices in our time of need, we endorse Brooks and Meitiv.
